Hey! If you're here you must be wondering on how you make those funky glossy looking buttons. Well you've come to the right place. Here's a tutorial on how to make them. All you need is the things listed below!

  • Photoshop

Step 1

First you must open up a new file on Photoshop. In this tutorial I will be using a button that's 88x31 for example. Set it with a White background.

Step 2

Now that you've got that done, make a new layer so that you have a background layer and a transparent one. Select the new layer and then get the Elliptical Marquee tool . Use the tool to make a half circle looking thing on the image. Make sure you are clicked in the new layer and not the background layer. You should come out with something similar to this below.

Step 3

Use the Paint Bucket tool to fill in the new layer in with white. After you've done that you must get the Paint Bucket tool and fill in the BACKGROUND layer with any color you'd like. I'll use a lime green. Your button should look like this below.

Step 4

Now go and view your layer window and select the new layer you made earlier. In the upper right hand corner sort of you'll see a thing that says Opacity. Click on that and now lower the opacity from about 50% to about 70%. It depends on how you want it to look. Look at the screenshot below to see. Well congratulations on making your glossed button!

Step 5

Since you've got the "gloss" part of your button it's time to add other things. You can add a border to the button. Also you can add an image and text. I'll add some scanlines just for example. Once you got it done, save it and you're done! I hope you learned from this tutorial!
